چکیده
In this issue of the Journal, Toyota et al5 report that a staged PCI strategy for angiographically significant nonculprit lesions arly reperfusion of the occluded infarct-related artery (IRA) using primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been the primary goal of treatment for patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).1 Concomitant atherosclerosis in coronary arteries other than the IRA has been reported to be observed in 40–50% of patients with acute MI (AMI).2 In addition, STEMI patients with multivessel disease (MVD) are at increased risk of major adverse cardiac events following primary PCI.2 Although most interventional cardiologists believe that complete revascularization of ischemia-producing nonculprit E

Six month results of randomized clinical trial: Multivessel stenting versus staged revascularization for ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients with second generation drug eluting stents
Background: There are no randomized trials described outcomes of multivessel percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) (in primary and staged revascularization) with second generation drug eluting stents (DES) in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). We are presenting preliminary results of randomized trial (NCT01781715). Methods: Six-month outcomes of 89 consecutive patient...

BACKGROUND We assessed the current status of treatment strategy in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) with multivessel disease (MVD) in real world practice, focusing on the benefit of staged percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODSANDRESULTS From the CREDO-Kyoto AMI Registry, 2,010 STEMI patients with MVD undergoing primary PCI were analyzed. Only 96 patients (4.8%) r...

متن کاملStaged versus One-Time Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Strategy for Multivessel Non-ST Segment Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome
Refer to the page 774-783 Patients with non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) often have multiple non-culprit lesions in addition to culprit lesion. Previous studies suggest that performing " one-time " interventions to non-culprit lesions of multivessel NSTE-ACS patients improve clinical outcomes as compared to culprit-only intervention. 3)4) Shishehbor et al. 3) reported...
متن کاملImpact of the Residual SYNTAX Score on Outcomes of Revascularization in Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction and Multivessel Disease
UNLABELLED Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (P-PCI) has become the preferred reperfusion strategy in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) when performed by an experienced team in a timely manner. However, no consensus exists regarding the management of multivessel coronary disease detected at the time of P-PCI. AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of the residual ...
